What do you know about your birth experience?

Prompt response: My birth was extremely fast and my mom didn't have enough time to be put on any kind of medication. The birth itself for her was painful but she felt amazing afterwards and was able to be discharged very early. I was generally a quiet and happy baby from the day I was born and I was so calm they thought something was wrong with me. Thankfully I was perfectly healthy just a little strange.

Summary: We annotated Infant sorrow and Infant joy by William Blake.

Reflection: I got to think back on how I was born and reflect on my mothers experience.

Fall break

Over the break I had the opportunity to visit one of the colleges ive applied to, that my friend is currently attending. I was able to stay in her dorm and tour the school, getting a chance to see the fine arts facilities and tour their equestrian center. It was a 5 hour drive up to Virginia but honestly not that bad. It made me very excited for college and the idea of dorm living.

Describe a time when someone’s words had a lasting impact on you.

Prompt Response: Earlier this week I got into a slight argument with my boyfriend over me not getting into the Governors Honors Program last year for visual arts, hes the one who got in and I didnt get past the first round of judging, he was angry with me and yelled at me because I said I never expected to get in. He told me that he was mad that I felt inadequate and how much he cares about me valuing myself and my own work.

Summary: We presented our fences projects

Reflection: Lyons as a character is deeply flawed just like everyone else in the play, but is still a likable character that is loved by his family and friends.

How do you find time to enjoy your day, even when you have a lot going on? Write about at least three specific things you do to enjoy small moments throughout your day.

Prompt Response: I'm usually extremely busy during the week due to theater, so enjoying the day has to come in very small ways, enjoying plants and nature around me whenever possible. Petting any dogs that walk by, taking pictures of pretty flowers, and picking ferns to press and dry for preservation.

Summary: We took the fences test

Reflection: Fences was a very short but impactful play that illustrated complicated family dynamics and the ways people often drift apart despite efforts to hold everyone together.

What would you do: tell your friend to confess, tell their partner yourself, or stay quiet? Explain your choice, using ideas about loyalty and consequences from Fences. How might your decision affect everyone involved?

I would personally first tell my friend to confess, but if they refused to I would take charge and tell their partner myself. Cheating on someone is such an immature disgusting thing to do and unfortunately if one of my friends were to cheat on a partner, once things had been outed I don't think I could be friends with someone who could willingly hurt someone who is supposedly the love of their life.

Write about a conversation that changed you.

Prompt Response: After my parents got divorced they hadn't talked to me or my sibling very much about everything, why it happened and how. But about 4 months afterwards my dad sat us down and told us this grand story of how my mom acted, and it didn't change the way I viewed my mom at all, because it was so clearly a lie that I lost all respect for my dad and it changed me and the way I saw him forever.

Summary: We finished act 2 of Fences

Reflection: We learned more about Rose and troys relationship and how he has been unfaithful to her.

Write about something that you believed as a child.

Prompt Response: When I was a child I believed that anything that I wanted was just called a "Pretty dress". I must've heard my mom or my grandma talking about a pretty dress in the window of a shop and gotten confused, thinking that if you wanted something it was just a pretty dress. So of course I went around calling everything I wanted, including food and toys, a pretty dress.

Summary: We read another act of Fences and wrote more evidence of characterization for our assigned project.

Reflection: I learned more about Lyons role in Fences and in his family, how his family members see him and the respect, or lack thereof, he has.
